Just a stones throw from the warm turquoise waters, where you can take a dip or explore some fantastic snorkeling spots. Beach towels can be provided if required. The walk back up to the villa from the beach is short but steep and is well worth it for the view! The recently completed Belmont Walkway makes a stroll into Port Elizabeth along the coastal path possible, just a few minutes away.
The villas pool and huge sun deck is in a central location at the heart of the property, so a relaxing dip is easy from all the rooms. With large deck area perfect for sunbathing and soaking up those magnificent views. Apartment guests are welcome to use the villa pool anytime between 9am & 9pm.
Excellent Bequia villa Rental
Completed in 2010 this property is finished to a high standard and a cool, calm relaxing atmosphere. With the added bonus of air conditioning in the bedrooms for those warmer nights.
The infinity edge pool overlooking Princess Margaret offers a wonderful place to either cool off with a quick dip or bathe in the warm Caribbean sun. The pool is located on the lower ground level and is shared with any occupants in the Studio.
Kitchen and dining areas
There is a fully functioning, open plan, well equipped eat-in kitchen, which opens up right onto the rear shared patio / BBQ area. Apartment guests can also make use of the built in BBQ facilities located just outside the apartment kitchen. Provisions can be pre-ordered, a service charge of 20USD plus cost of provisions to be paid upon arrival.
2 Double bedrooms
The apartment has two bedrooms - one with queen bed and one with twin beds which have the option of king size when pushed together - each has a private bathroom, consisting of a beautiful outside shower opened to the Caribbean sky and separate wc. Both bedrooms open out onto the west facing balcony, wonderful to enjoy the sunsets. Guests can enjoy a cooling breeze via the louvered french windows in the bedroom. Air Conditioning has been installed for evening use and there are also standing and ceiling fans in each of the bedrooms if you prefer.
From the shady balcony there are lovely ocean views right out over Admiralty Bay. The apartment is privately located at the top of the building, accessible via external steps up from the pool area.
Additional accommodation available
A Shade of Blues Apartment can also be booked in conjunction with the Shade of Blues Studio option with complimentary breakfast and maid service, providing an additional double bedroom.
The main driveway to the property can be tricky to negotiate and any apartment guests with a vehicle are kindly asked to please park in the car park below and walk up the steps. For luggage and heavy items special arrangements can be made for delivery. The owners prefer only their designated taxi driver, Julian, to negotiate the drive.
If guests want to invite others to the villa please do so whilst being sensitive to others who may be using the property. Please note that only paying rental guests may use the pool. Please inform the rental agent prior to inviting extra guests to the property during the evening, in particular.
Recommended for Wedding Groups
A Shade of Blues works well for large groups visiting Bequia for a wedding or family or friends reunion, especially when linked with other villas that are very close by, including:Gumbo Limbo, Piperie, Princess Hill, Turtle Point and Flamingo.
Air Con Usage
The apartment was designed for open air living with large windows for maximum airflow - the building is not efficient for air conditioning and runs at considerable cost here on Bequia where electricity is very expensive. To cool the bedrooms comfortably for sleeping the air con is on a timer from 7-11pm when all windows / doors should be closed for maximum efficiency. Additional funds will be requested should the air con be left running during the day or the meter show excessive air con usage.

This is a favourite beach for visiting yachts and has a great convivial atmosphere. Gorgeous, deep coral sand beach. Excellent swimming. Beautiful trees for shade... There's even a cave to explore! Now with a spectacular beach restaurant. Best reached either by water, there is a pretty wooden jetty for a dinghy to the harbour, or via the Belmont Walkway Coastal Path from Port Elizabeth. Above and behind the beach a handful of special houses nestle amongst the trees or on the headland. brightly painted hand made boats rest in the shade of palms and sea grape.
Guest Reviews"My husband and I were lucky enough to spend a week in Bequia at a house called A Shade of Blues. It was beautiful, we stayed in the upper apartment and it had everything we could possibly want. The bedroom was large with a king sized bed with blue netting on a frame so it was easy to use and didn't have to be tucked in, as you can tell my bed is very important to me. I'd like to say that, one of my favorite parts was the shower that was open to the sky but there were so many favorite parts. Sitting on the deck and looking at all of the boats in the harbor or looking down at the whale swimming pool. The kitchen had everything that we needed and was charming. Of course this was just the two bedroom apartment, the rest of the house is amazing, with large decks and everything you could possibly want for a dream vacation. And if you want a little more, well you can just walk down the stairs to a pristine beach and have a dinner at Jacks, bar and restaurant." Joyce and Brian Murphy Ma
My wife and I had the most amazing time at Shade of Blues Studio in Bequia. The house is located steps away and has an incredible view over the most beautiful beach on the island: Princess Margaret. It is also a short walk away from pretty much anything.
The bedroom is very confortable, the balcony overlook is just stunning and is the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast. If that wasn't enough, the gorgeous infinity pool will help you cool off after a long hot day so will the outdoor shower. We were lucky to be the only ones in the house during our stay which made it even more special.
Communication was excellent, a cellphone was for us to use which was very helpful and we were welcomed by a very nice lady when we arrived who made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended!

Grenadine Villas Clients stayed 2 weeks in October 2016 and had a lovely time. Views are fantastic and the pool was a welcome cool down after the climb from the beach!
It's really a great spot to stay just above princess margarets beach and just behind jacks bar. Unfortunately due to recent storms, the Belmont walkway was broken and jacks bar was undergoing repairs, but what can you do about that? Just made us a bit more adventurous wading through the pristine sea to get to the fabulous plantation resort (great pizzas and lovely staff)
Use Julian, one of the local taxi drivers - very knowledgable and friendly and is very experienced at getting right up the driveway- very impressive!! His wife, Cass is the housekeeper and is lovely!!
The only thing I would prefer is aircon as we couldn't leave doors etc open as mosquitoes loved us.
The grounds man, ottley is really helpful too. Thank you all for making our stay on bequia great!!
Alison & Alain - October 2016
We stayed in Shades of Blue apartment for the month of October. The view from the balcony is incredible and you can never tire of waking up to Princess Margaret beach. The apartment is high up on the hill so will only suit reasonably fit travellers as there are a lot of steps up to the property but once there it is worth it. The Belmont walkway is a bonus for walking into Port Elizabeth and is by far the prettiest walk into a town that we know of. If coming back if loaded with shopping a taxi was a good choice. October was extremely quiet and only a couple of restaurants were open so we self catered for nearly all of our holiday. Lots of options for interesting meals from Barracuda bought on the beach to anything you could ever require from Doris's, but at a price. We shopped at knights grocers and Darkies fruit and veg stall. The apartment is lovely with wonderful comfy beds and luxurious cotton sheets. 2 outside showers which were a lovely treat. The infinity pool is just gorgeous and a very welcome treat after managing the steps. Princess Margaret beach awaits you at the bottom of the steps and the lovely Fay who sells drinks, souvenirs and t shirts will watch over your bags whilst you swim. On cooler days we walked to Friendship bay, Paget Farm and also Crescent beach. You can use the taxi services which are quite unusual and driven by some wonderful characters Elvis, Fatman and Elson to name a few. Most charge 20 ECD (£5) for the short ride out of town and the nominated taxi driver for the apartment Julian charged 25ecd and on our departure 40ecd as it was a 6 am pick up. We used the ferry to St Vincent 25 ECD per person each way. An interesting tip we heard about but would consider is to hire a car in St Vincent as it is cheaper and you can stock up at the supermarket before the ferry across. The staff Cass and Ottley at the property are lovely and are very knowledgable. The garden is fascinating with lots of different fruit trees, mangoes. plantain, passion fruit, pomegranate to name a few. Thank you to Monica for sharing her home.

“The best rental on Bequia!”
"I searched diligently for the nicest place within our price range on this charming and exotic little island of Bequia. A Shade of Blues was absolutely the best choice I could have made.
We have walked around a lot and noticed the views of the other apartments, and A Shade of Blues has the best, unobstructed view of Princess Margaret beach and the lovely contoured coastline.
It is very quiet and private - we loved being perched up in the trees, and the fact that there are only two other properties on this road.
We are so close to Princess Margaret beach, the nicest beach on the island IMHO.
The apartment which we have has two lovely bedrooms, a very well appointed kitchen, and a wonderful patio where we spend a lot of time just relaxing and admiring the fabulous view. Everything is new and very charming - beds are superbly comfortable, the kitchen is perfect for cooking full meals, and there is a big table in the kitchen and out on the patio.

"Quality accommodation on the best beach in Bequia"
Thoughtfully designed with delightful artistic touches. Superior beds and linen regularly changed during our fortnight's stay. Sunsets from the balcony over a bay full of constantly changing boats were a highlight. Be prepared to walk steep slopes to and from the beach.

been meaning to send you this since we got back! We had a fantastic time in Bequia, one of the great holidays. We did very little, there was very little to do, but we all - even the boys - relaxed and just went swimming and snorkeling. Were supposed to go diving but Hurricane Isaac intervened. Only bad weather for three days out of the fourteen, so that was v good going, we thought. The villa was v good, though not for young families because two of the three bedrooms were in a separate building from the main house.
The villa was right above the beach, the best beach on the island, and we often had it to ourselves. When it got busy, there were perhaps ten other people on the beach. Sea was warm and heavenly...Many thanks for your recommendation
"Family EM London September 2012"
Stunning apartment. I was there for the first two weeks in sept 2012. Without exaggeration....this was the best vacation ever. Julian and Cass were wonderfully helpful, without being intrusive. Location was private, blissfully peaceful, yet close to everything. The beach, a mere two mins away. Friendly, helpful locals. Watching the yachts come and go from princess margaret beach in the comfort of your private balcony...Set on the best beach in bequia. Truly paradise. I'll be back.

We absolutely loved our stay at Shades of Blues. The view over beautiful princess margarets bay was amazing. The house was finished to a very high spec with contemporary design. All very well thought out. Lovely pool, terrace and lighting. Beds very comfortable and we appreciated the "square topped" mosquito nets, stopping the net draping onto the bed. Jacks bar is a fantastic local. All in all couldnt be better.
Ted and Family
Our 3 week stay here was ostensibly to celebrate our Silver Wedding. We followed the suggestions of other visitors to Bequia and didn't hire a car, as we would usually, but used the services of Julian, the husband of the property's housekeeper Cas. Cas & Julian were absolutely fantastic and even if we weren't going anywhere, we saw them both every day. One important thing that is missed off the info, are the number of steps, from the "lane" to the apartment. I had just had surgery to my foot and had only been off crutches for 3 days before we came away. There are 78 steps from the apartment to the lane and a further 78 to the beach, if you go down via Jack's Bar. There are no steps if you go along the lane a little and through the trees to the beach. A good way to keep fit and there are convenient placse to stop on the way up!!! A bit of a hike with a case of wine or crate of beer, though we did manage!! Ask Julian about getting the beer from the beer factory and getting wine from the Welshman, Richard. The Friendship Rose trips are great, we did one to Tobago Cays and one to Mustique. We also took the Fast Ferry - Jaden Sun- to Union Island, calling at Canouan & Mayreau on the way. The outside showers are simply wonderful. The terrace is a great place to watch the bay from and each morning and evening we counted the vessels in and out. Wi-fi works best on the terrace. Princess Margaret's Beach really is the best one on the island. We were just at the start of the season, so some places weren't up and running. Fernando's Hideaway was great, but booking is a must. Can't believe it's taken me this long to write the review! Would certainly go back again. Bequia is no good if you want "everything on a plate". It is a small island, so the produce you can buy is dictated by what is shipped in!!
