The Moonhole Private Estate
Tom and Gladdie Johnston founded Moonhole Company in 1964. Working side by side with carpenters and masons from the nearby village of Paget Farm, Tom built the original house beneath the enormous natural arch known far and wide as 'Moonhole.'Over the years Tom and his crew constructed 16 more houses with stone's from the site, native hardwoods, and materials reclaimed from the sea. Trees flourish inside the houses. Flowering tropical plants abound.
In 2000 Tom turned over the preservation of Moonhole to to a conservation trust to preserve Moonhole's natural beauty. As a member of the National Trust and through our private foundation, Moonhole Friends, including., we actively support environmental, educational and cultural activities on Bequia Today the original Moonhole house may only be viewed from the sea There are no public tours. Although the Moonhole compound is private, the company does offer several of It's original houses for rent by the week, month or season.
