Aromatic, Tradewind Cooled & Elegant
Scented with fragrant jasmine and bougainvillea the large second floor terrace of this beautiful villa overlooks the lower verandah adjacent to the pool. Situated high in the Endeavour Hills Yellow Bird benefits from constant refreshing approach of the easterly trade winds.
Beautifully Restored & Refurbished
The Villas current owner has spent considerable time restoring the property including an original mural in the main reception area which forms the heart of the house and offers 2 spacious sitting areas. The reception leads via french doors onto a balcony from where guests can enjoy glorious views over to Bequia and the other St. Vincent islands. the Original features that make this property so special have all been carefully restored such as the gingerbread style finishes on the windows and woodwork, the shingle roofs and timber tray ceilings.
Elegant English Style Bedroom Suites
The 3 bedroom suites are all privately placed in different areas of The Villa, the master suite dominating the lower floor, overlooks the beautiful pool. The guest bedroom suite is located on the upper floor whilst the third suite is placed in a separate building near to The pool and sun deck. The large 4 poster beds are almost dwarfed by the size of the suites. Decorated in classic, ivory and wedgewood bluetones and draped in chintz and floral fabrics the rooms are romantic and sophisticated in mood. Beautiful views from every elegantly dressed window make these rooms difficult to leave each morning.
Oliver Messel Villain the Endeavour Hills
Oliver Messel originally a theatre set designer in London, moved to Barbados in the 1950's where he became involved in the modification and design of the island properties. He visited Mustique in '69 where he was originally working on the islands hotel but became involved in designing and remodelling villas, such as Yellow Bird. This villa, oneof only 13 designed by Messel has become one of the most sought after residences upon the island.
Messel Inspired Exterior
The beauty of a Messel designed villa is the interdependence between The Villa interior and exterior. The Mustique climate provides the ideal excuse to spend the majority of the day reclining on a sun lounger by the stylish pool or enjoying lunch or dinner in the gingerbread style gazebo. Planted with mature palms and architectural plants the pool area offers a combination of light and shade, tropical gloss greens, clear turquoise azure and clean white stone.
Welcoming China Blue Reception
The main reception, wide and cool with large overstuffed sofas covered in china white and blues fabrics harks back to this villas English pedigree. The large arched french windows lead onto the extensive balcony, a perfect viewing point for the famous Mustique sunsets. The Impressive proportions of this property and the large open plan kitchen at the rear of the dining room offer almost unparalleled entertaining opportunities.
Covering 1,400 acres Mustique has several coral reefs at It's waters edge and plays host to a variety of beautiful wildlife such as herons, tortoises, iguanas and a wide variety of tropical birds. The year round population of around 500 live mostly in the villages of Lovell,Britannia Bay and Dover. General history of the island dates back to the 15th century when Spanish sailors named the island 'Los Pajaros' or The Birds' as the islands resembled a flock of birds settling on the ocean. Originally the islands main export was Sugarcane but this was eventually abandoned in the 19th century when sugar was sourced from European-grown sugar beet. Remains of the Sugarcane industry such as the 'Cotton House' and sugar mill at Endeavour are the last physical traces of the islands historic past. This exclusive and unspoilt island offers a unique opportunity to live in a tropical and secluded retreat.
