Fabulous villa! Best location! 5 of 5

    Fabulous villa! Best location!

    5 of 5

We just returned from a 9 night stay in this amazing villa. It was wonderful! The views are spectacular from both levels! The house had games for the kids to entertain themselves. Chateau Mygo, Doolittles and the ice cream/coffee shop (can't remember the name!) in the bay were superb! The kids said the ice cream was the best they ever had! The people on the island are extremely friendly, kind and helpful! We went to cook dinner the first night we arrived and found the house was out of propane on both the outdoor grill and the stove. We made a phone call to Cornelius and Pauline and we were cooking dinner within 30 minutes! They are excellent caretakers for the villa! As to the comments about lack of cookware, we did not have problem with this. There were multiple pots, pans, and skillets (all sizes) to use for cooking. The bedrooms are comfortable and air conditioned. I highly recommend taking a boat taxi to the snorkeling sites in the south. The pool at the house is huge with plenty of lounge chairs. There is a beautiful flowering overhang on one side that provides shade until noon-ish. We went to the beach across the bay multiple times. There is plenty of shade at the beach with the palm trees. We also rented kayaks and found a large rock (4+ meters high) out of the bay to the left that you can kayak to and jump off - for those adventure seekers! It took our 10 year old son 7 minutes to walk from the house down the hill to the bay. The walk back up the hill is about double that - especially after a day of water sports! We usually drove down the hill and parked in the lot at the bottom with no fee. One thing to note is the pool does not have a typical 3ft shallow area. I'd guess the depth at the shallow end to be 4 ft.+ and the deep end 6 ft.+. Our 10 year old could only touch bottom in the shallow end near the wall. This was not a problem for our group but may be for those that cannot swim. We loved the depth because the water seemed to stay cooler on those hot sunny days! We will always remember this vacation! Spectacular! Thank you!

Amazing private home overlooking Marigot Bay!

    5 of 5

Don't hesitate to book Bois Rouge! This home has it all from the moment you walk in the front door there are expansive views of Marigot Bay and the Carribean Sea from all bedrooms and living spaces. We loved watching the boat activity in the harbor. Marigot attracts the mega yachts and world sailboat travelers. There's a lot of nice outdoor space overlooking the large pool and sea. This was our first trip to St. Lucia. We found the location to be perfect. Staying in Marigot gives you the opportunity to meet locals and get a real feel for the island. Our favorite adventures included going on boat rides south to explore the many beaches near the Pitons. Anse Chastenet and Jealouise were our favorites. I recommend talking to the house manager Cornelius about this or Shashamane a local boat out of Marigot. To the north is more populated with hotels, restaurants and the capital Castries and Reduit beach. Both were quite nice it just depends what you prefer. We really enjoyed the lush rainforests and secluded beaches headed south but the location set in the middle of both gives you the opportunity to enjoy it all. Marigot Bay has a lot to offer too. The villa sits up on the hill. You can walk down to the harbor but the road is very steep. There is a water taxi that takes you across the bay. For an upscale dinner we recommend the Rainforest cafe. Doolittles was fun too, more laid back and good for the kids. They have pool tables and outdoor areas for the kids to explore. This was a trip we'll never forget. Maggi the owner is very helpful and the booking process was a breeze. She has an excellent team that made us feel most welcome. Pauline and Cornelius the house managers are the perfect hosts (they even went out of their way to help me with the delivery of my lost bag from the airlines). We really enjoyed getting to know Lion too, the pool/garden guy! Everyone made us feel so welcome! Bois Rouge is a very private, hidden gem surrounded by beautiful gardens and amazing views!

    Wonderful place to stay

    5 of 5

My husband, two children and I had a lovely time at this terrific villa: very well-laid out, relaxed, with a nice pool and perfectly placed for privacy while still being able to take advantage of proximity to local shops and beach. The caretaker Pauline and her husband are very available for any issues if necessary, but those in search of quiet time away from it all in a beautiful setting, this is perfect.

    Lovely, but....

    3 of 5

This home has many good qualities. The house is lovely, the view unbeatable, the pool refreshing, and the grounds lush. We are a family of 5 and overall our stay was memorable.

We had several issues but Pauline was wonderful in responding.

The largest issue is the lack of proper cooking equipment. The pots and pans have wiggly handles or none at all. For many being on vacation would mean eating out every meal, but I tend to cook in because I have a son with celiac disease. We found it difficult to cook more than 1 thing at a time for lack of usable pans.

Overall we had a nice stay.

Owner's Response: I am pleased that my guests enjoyed the villa and especially its wonderful location. However, I find it rather strange that they are posting a review a year after their stay in March 2016. But I am more concerned about their comments on the condition of the kitchen equipment. If they had mentioned this to my House Manager at the time then any unusable pans would have been replaced immediately but she was never made aware of their concerns and is really surprised to read their comments only now. When I had personally checked out the villa at the beginning of the season the previous November I did not notice any issues with kitchen equipment. I would like to assure any future guests that all the kitchen items are safe to use and more than sufficient in number to cater for the maximum number of 8 guests.

An elegant, timeless retreat in a tropical paradise!

    5 of 5

The minute you arrive, you know you have found a very special place. The villa is architecturally very impressive. It is spacious and airy with exceptionally high ceilings. There is beautiful dark wood flooring and ceilings which offer a welcome relief from the intense tropical sunshine. There was always a breeze and the villa never was hot. The open air porches, on 2 levels, are immense and extremely pleasant with gentle breezes and protection from the sun. The most ideal place to read books is in the cozy wicker seating area; the view, however, is quite a distraction from the reading! We ate dinner outside every evening and the crickets and other jungle-y noises only added to the experience. The villa is also very cozy in the evening with lots of warm lighting from the many table lamps. There are ceiling fans in every room and we never felt the need for a/c. And this is just the villa! The grounds are very well maintained with lots of beautiful gardens and fruit trees. The views are jaw-dropping, and not fully captured in the photos here. There is a 270 or so degree view with so much visual complexity from the view of the horizon and Caribbean Sea, to the harbor, yachts moving about and their mast lights twinkling in the evening in Marigot Bay, to the surrounding mountains and villas in the distance and all the flowers, banana and palm tress and tropical greenery. The pool is large and deep and refreshingly cool. The location is exceptionally private, yet very near to the marina (a very steep drive or walk). The restaurants along the bay are excellent, and the yachting scene in the inner harbor very vibrant and beautiful. Pauline manages the property and is a wonderful resource for any questions you may have. Her husband, Cornelius offers a magnificent boat trip to some of the other great attractions of the island including the famous beaches, Anses Chastenet and Sugar, for lunch and snorkeling and a full-on up close tour of the Pitons from the water - not to be missed. This was our first trip to St. Lucia, and we very much hope to return to this wonderful villa overlooking Marigot Bay. Five stars!
