Isle de Ronde
5 miles to Grenada
27 miles to Tobago Cays
47 miles to Mustique
68 miles to St Vincent
140 miles to Barbados
One of the largest private islands with large plot of land for sale in the Grenadines with undulating landscape, small hills and valleys, bays and even a swim through cave. The island offers a variety of ridge top and beachfront locations for showcase villas or a boutique hotel.
Isolated and untouched by development, fishing or run-off, this island archipelago's marine life is prolific and stunning. Superb visibility typically exceeds 100 feet, and turtles, large pelagics and green moray eels are common. Dramatic underwater topography includes breathtaking drop-offs over 'bottomless' vertical walls, coral-encrusted canyons and an underground cavern decorated with stalactites and quartz crystals.
Anchorage on Isle de Ronde
Chris Doyles Cruising Guide describes the anchorage being slightly rolly at Isle de Ronde, although he goes on to recommend the snorkelling. Often deserted, brave visitors who do anchor here can enjoy crystal clear waters, a beautiful sandy beach and vibrant bird population including white and brown diving pelicans.
'The Sisters' guard the Approach to Isle de Ronde
Sailing towards Ronde Island can be daunting, as the rocks called ‘The Sisters’ look much closer to the island from a distance. Once sailors get nearer to the passage they discover that the way is actually not particularly narrow but there are currents and confused waters off the headland. One of the favoured anchorage points is described as the N/NE corner.
Inter Island Transport
Grenada has an international Airport and is only a few miles from Isle de Ronde and easily reached by boat. Private charters by plane or speedboat are easily arranged. Ferries move regularly between the Windward and Leeward islands. Sailing is considered the finest way to approach an island such as this. The waters are crystal clear and the temperature & climate is considered to be perfect.
From historical sites to waterfalls and spice estates, Grenada is another ideal holiday destination. Grenada, known as “the Spice Isle”, is a major tourist attraction due in large part to the lush beautiful landscape. It’s an island where scents of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove waft idyllic through the air over the lush, unspoiled tropical gardens. Nature lovers, hikers, mountain bikers, bird watchers and waterfall buffs will find a plethora of Grenada vacation activities throughout the many spectacular beaches, pristine waters and lush mountainous interiors.
